Pompeii Virtual Tour Part II: New Light on the Ancient City

duration 1.5 hours

Tour Overview

For centuries Pompeii lay sleeping beneath its pall of ash, a hidden ancient world perfectly preserved far from prying eyes. When these fabulous remains were finally unearthed and brought to the light of day once more in the 1700s, the entire world was soon entranced by the unprecedented window into the daily life of antiquity offered up by this subterranean city frozen in time. But even after nearly 3 centuries, the process of discovery is still far from complete - every year new treasures are opened to the public that enrich our knowledge of this extraordinary place. During this second part of our virtual Pompeii tour, we’ll be exploring the spaces that have been been opened to visitors in recent years. So join Andrea as we return to Pompeii to discover a fascinating and evocative landscape of ancient houses, baths, temples, warehouses and so much more. Tour Description

Meet your guide: Andrea

Hi I’m Andrea! A native of Naples, I’ve lived in the Campania region of Italy all my life, and I have a deep love for its art, archeology, music, architecture, cuisine, natural beauty and - of course - its people. I have shared this world with many, many visitors over the years, showcasing the vast range of this wonderful place. When I was 14 years old I started working as an actor in theatres, and this plays a central role in how I communicate on my tours today -  I always try to put something theatrical into everything I do :-)

Absolutely loved these two tours! My grandmother and I signed up for the Part 1 tour and did the Part 2 as well. Andrea did a wonderful job as usual! He is so very knowledgeable on the tours that he gave; he has such a wonderful charisma and is always such a delight. I found Part 1 to be very interesting but would definitely say that Part 2 was my favorite based on my interests. Part 2 was more of the excavation process and it was so crazy to see how far they have come and the "before and afters". I personally don't think that you have to sign up for Part 1 to see Part 2 but it gives a lot of wonderful information and I highly recommend both tours!

My friends and I were very impressed and pleased with this tour. The virtual presentation was highly professional; the mix of still photography and recorded video with a live guide is the next best thing to being there in person. Andrea is a wonderful guide! Grazie Mille!
